Hello I’m a long time recreational Poker player from Norway. I will turn 40 this year and I have been playing since 2003. I started by reading Theory of poker and playing limit holdem on Partypoker. At that time we had a quite good poker community in my hometown and we played tourneys every other weeks. I did quite good in these and it later led to me playing full time online. I was never serious crusher tho but I had some significant cashes like winning $16.666 in a tournament on Ladbrokes.

My first journey with Jnandez as a coach was from his course on Upswing and when he parted ways with them and started on his own it was natural for me to follow him and subscribe to the mastermind.

Ive been a member of MM quite a while now and I think Ive been more a supportive member than an active one. Ive just liked to have the tools available whenever I decide to play.

Anyways Ive been playing PLO25 on and off the last two years and Im not beating it. I have huge flaws like tilting and I know I am not consistent enough to get really good. I have had quite a break from the game now and I decided to return for the winter and try to dig in to improve and maybe be able to beat the game. I do have a quite well payed job so poker will be something on the side for me.

I had a bankroll on partypoker and decided to give GG a try so I transferred $1600 to get the $600 first deposit bonus. After 9000 hands my bankroll is at $1913. As a long time player at the PLO25 bracket I would highly recommend to play at GG because if you play around 1200+ hands a day at rush and cash you will get at least $12 cashback from their leaderboards. After raking around $200 I have gotten $169 back from the leaderboards($69)/deposit bonus($50)/Fish Buffet($50). In my mind that is quite huge when we know that the biggest enemy on those stakes is the rake.

I am studying in the 10 weeks transformation course at the moment and I have done all of the escape the micros courses before. Ive seen some videos in the population tendencies course. I do feel that I am not studying enough and I really hope I would focus more on it because the courses are really great.

I have tons of questions about my play and how to proceed. I guess I will take it bit by bit and try to create an interesting blog. I will return with some stats and question in a later post. And for those who are still reading: There is nothing wrong with your stamina 🙂

Hello guys. So its been a massive 7h and 45m since my opening post and that calls for an update if we can call it that.

My HM3 is acting weird and have me loosing at the games (emagine that! me loosing? proposterous!)

These are the stats from the game that HM3 have on me after I imported all the hands. I know I have gotten $169 from bonus/rakeback and my starting amount was $1600 and my current bankroll is $1913 and that should give me $144 in profit. Anyone have any tips or answers on this I would be very happy.

This is my graph. I added the bonus at the end of it so thats why the profit graph just jumped in the end there. The red line looks terrible, Im not sure if this is normal or I overfold postflop. Any tips would be appreciated.

    More to come 🙂

The forum wont let me post snips from snipping tool so I added both pics as pictures in a reply.

      Hey @halibutface

When trying to post the snips from snipping toll were you clicking on the camera image to add images? If not for the future please try this way as for some reason there seems to be an issue when you drag and drop that prevents the images from posting.

I think the issues with the graph are issues that are common when importing hands from GG I believe someone mentioned that HM3 were working on a fix for this but unsure as to when that’ll be resolved/rolled out, so you’re not the only one having some problems there.

Keep up the good work with the grind!

    Another update from me.

I played some hands yesterday and did really amazing the first session. My bluffs and bets was pinpoint accurate. I ended up 4 buyins. Then I started the second session, I feel its important to end up on the leaderboard every day I play because I get 12-15 dollars back on the rake as I see it. Well that session went bad. I started spewing like crazy playing way too many hands with way too week holdings and was dominated left and right. Turns out that I dont have a B game. I go straight from A to D game. And I ended about 1/4 of a buyin down for those two sessions in total with leaderboards + deposit bonus included. I felt really disappointed with the day overall. But Its a valuable lesson(again) about how fast things can turn in poker and that you really need to stay sharp when you play. Had another session today where I ended up 4 buyins so my bankroll is at $2016 now from the $1600 starting point.

I feel the playerbase on GG is some of the weakest ive seen. I would highly advice people to play on this site if you are grinding lowstakes like me.

HM3 is still acting up and they still have me at a loss for -$15 when in reality im up $416. Pokercraft on GG is also pretty weird because they have me up almost $600. But I guess in the end I should use HM3 to analyze hands.

PokerCraft does not account for rake in its win/loss line stats – absolute joke really.

Ok a little update. Im nearing 16k hands which is not a really huge sample and I might be running really hot. I feel I am playing good too tho. But anyways I have been playing PLO25 on GG and with Bonuses and Rakeback I am crushing the game for 16 bb/100. And my All-In EQ is even higher.

My bankroll is at near $2200 and I wonder if this is enough to start taking shots at PLO50? And is 15k hands enough to know if I am just running like a total GOD or not?

I also had a live session yesterday where i lost 450 Euros. Got it in good in a pot worth 1400 Euros with AA975ds in five card PLO. Lost both runouts against a totally rag hand. But the most surprising thing is that Im not tilted about it like I normally would.

Damn man looking good, your BR is good enough to take some shots at PLO50 I would say since you can support yourself with out poker winning, but your hand sample is quite low as you mention. Maybe keep going for like a 50k hand sample and then depending on BR you can move up? your question “is 15k hands enough to know if I am just running like a total GOD or not?” The answer is very easy to say no that 15k hands sample is not much of an indicator, there is 170k different starting hands in Omaha so 15k hands is not showing much at all.

I dont know how it is at GG but at pokerstars there is almost no difference at PLO25/50 so if you are beating PLO25 you will probably do just about aswell on PLO50. The swings in PLO can be brutal aswell and as you mentioned in the thread you have some tilt issues that could really hurt you BR.

What ever you decide good luck and keep us updated!

Thanks for your reply man. I decided to try some PLO50 regular tables and I ended up loosing almost 4 buyins and it didnt feel good. And that tells me that my bankroll is not big enough for me to try at those stakes just yet. I know what I did wrong in those games and Its easy to correct, but the feeling about loosing so much of my BR tells me that im not mentally ready for that. I think I will grind and see if I can hit a BR of 3k and then maybe try again.

Ok some update about my progress.

Yesterday I tried something insane that I wont do again. I went for 1st place on leaderbards on Rush and Cash on GG. A crazy session and 9k hands later I ended up at 2nd place and got $115 dollars from the leaderboards. I had the 1st place for maybe an hour only to loose it 45 minutes before the time was up and thats quite annoying because the difference was $65. For a man thats soon too be 40 years old (still in my thirties!) this was not good for my mind and body. My game was maybe an average B- and that is sadly not good enough now. Most of my profits from the session came from leaderboard/fishbuffet/deposit bonus. But still its $200 in total profit from that session and thats 8.8 bb/100.

My winnings have dropped from 18 bb/100 bonus included to 11 bb/100. Its still pretty solid on 33k hands but over half of the profit is from bonus and rakeback. But then again its no more than 50% rakeback so the rake is your real enemy!

My experiences so far from GG is a mixed one. The games are pretty soft. But they annoy me with their system of calculating rake. There should NOT be different ways to calculate rake between a winning player and a rec.

My studying have increased also lately but I think I should be careful with my playing time because I know I will hit the wall if I keep up my recent playtime.

Total bankroll is at $2500 now and I am quite happy with that.

Hey, congrats on your progress! Keep building up that bankroll 📈

9k hands in a session is pretty crazy, would say definitely stick to a more sustainable session and study routine. But once in a while pushing yourself is probably fine. Glad you came out fine on the other side. GL!

Thanks for your reply Orestto. Yes I feel pretty drained today. But I still got the desire to play. I know I just have to watch it with things like this because its easy to get burned out. During a session that long I got to feel about all the aspects. I felt on top of my game for a while, I felt like I was useless, I felt I was running like a GOD, I felt like I was running terrible and I had a small feeling of tilt a couple of times. All in all I would not do this again I think.

So another two days and the swing Gods is having their way with me.

I had a horrible session two days ago where everything I did was wrong and I started questioning myself yet again. Lost 7 buyins and the Tilt Troll payed a visit I just said shut up and take my money. Well with him out of the way RNGodus decided that whatever I did i should get the money in at 20-30% and that the odd chance I got it in good i should loose the runouts. And thats the problem lately really. I seem to get it in in bad shape when I feel I’m Pot commited.

Well today have been way better. I got back almost everything I lost during the bad day. But I still feel I get it in bad and that I sometimes get steamrolled. I always seem to end up with second pair or having aces on a horrible flop when I play 3b pots. I also feel that the population have picked up that I fold a lot postflop. I try to balance out my range with having a lot of strong hands in my checkback range but it seems like my overall range is so bad when i arrive at the flop that people can profitably bet the flop for 1/2 pot or 2/3 and I will most of the time just fold. And when I do decide to C-bet and arrive at the turn it seems like they always get there. I have done a lot of hero calls and they always seem to have it. I guess this is a way to run bad alongside playing bad.

The upside is that the bankroll is pretty healthy and I almost always seem to be able to grind my way back after getting felted at the start of the sessions. I do play a lot of poker. Maybe too much but I really enjoy it.

Under is a EV-Graph from GG poker. HM3 is not working for me.

So its been a few days since Ive updated my progress. There have been a few days with bad plays for sure. I leveled myself to thinking that villain always is bluffing and have called off huge pots where I should have folded. I have played a lot of poker and at times again i feel like I was being steamrolled. But I just had some cold decks and it resulted in me calling down way thinner than I would normally do and it really cost me a lot of buyins. I feel my head is back on track again and I am playing quite good poker at the moment and have gotten back most of what Ive lost.

Today I was watching and interacting with the PLO training session on stream with Jnandez and I feel it was a great session where I for sure learned a lot. I might be the best quizzer in the the whole mastermind “wink wink”. The hardest part when grinding trough a tough couple of days is doubting yourself. If you can even beat the stakes as low as PLO25.

I have yet come as far as sitting down with HM3 and analyzing my play in certain spots. That’s something that I really should do because I know there must be a lot of leaks. I do have some problems with HM3 and I am interacting with them to sort it out and maybe after that I will sit down and go trough some of the plays I have done, good or bad (and the ugly?).

I am moving slowly trough the 10 weeks transformation course. I feel I can only watch one video at the time to process what I have learned. I have always been a learner trough interaction and I really want someone that I can discuss poker with on a daily basis. So If anyone who is dwindling around at the microstakes PLO10-PL100 feel free to tell here or contact me on discord. My nick on discord is NatteRavn.

    Well thats it for now.

There have been anther two days since I last updated my progress.

I have been absolutely destroying the game. I feel like a juggernaut that just destroys everything in my way. The confidence is sky high and I really hope to continue this way. I think I will aim for a bankroll of $3k and the take a shot at PLO50. The reason for this is that I dont think I am ready to loose half of what Ive earned in PLO25 if a day goes bad. I am currently up $1050 on PLO25 with all bonuses and rakeback applied. That is about 9 bb/100. I was running at an incredible 18 bb/100 at best but I had a period of two days where I just was playing horrible and running quite bad. I hope I have learned from that period.

I will post under the graph for the last two days on GG. The graph is without rake so the result is a bit worse.

So it has been a while since Ive posted here but I have not stopped playing.

For the most time of this blog I have been playing PLO25 and had thinking of taking a shot at PLO50, I had a little try and ended up down 10 buyins. Since then I went back to grinding PLO25 R&C and had another try at PLO50 after speaking with infinito who is a member of the mastermind. He suggested I go hunting for Booty or bumhunting as he calls it. I had another go at PLO50 at regular tables and mainly targeting players who play a vpip of 50 or more. And I have had massive results. From my Graph over the last 6000 hands on PLO50 I have been winning 50 bb/100 before rake and I know thats a result that is impossible to maintain. I have also hit the big hand jackpot several times with Straight flush and four of a kind for almost 10 buyins. So I am on some kind of an epic run and it feels like I cant loose.

Off the tables I am at week 8 of the 10 weeks transformation and the course is really really good. Im starting to be really confident of my actions postflop and the more I learn the more I realize that the moments when you feel that everyone is bluffing you and you get run over is just moments you are running bad. It is often situations where you cannot continue because it will lead to mistakes on later streets that are way to expensive. I also feel that the more I learn about these things the more protected I get against tilt. But then again I know I am at a good place now when it comes to poker and that I will have harder times down the road. I just hope I can react to those times a bit better than I have before.

PS: I ordered the book of JNandez and got a timeout from him in the chat in the PLO study all within 1 hour. What a coincidence 🙂 But I deserved it so no worries, sometimes my troll gene is trolling me 😉

Graph to the left is PLO25 R&C and to the right is PLO50 regular tables.
