Pursuit of a PLO passion…
Hello everyone!
My name is Drew and I am brand new to PLO and poker in general. I turned to poker in search of a new hobby at the beginning of 2020 and started learning NLHE to begin. I very quickly discovered a passion and talent that I have for this game and poker in general. I have a somewhat obsessive nature and it didn’t take long for poker to become my new focus. I enjoy not only playing but reading about poker and obtaining as much information as I can about the game. When I’m not playing or studying, I find myself thinking about poker constantly! I’ve had success so far with NLHE but in the last month decided to give PLO a try and I am hooked. So far my only experience with PLO is reading the book Pot-Limit Omaha Poker The Big Play Strategy by Jeff Hwang, spending a month using the online site Omaha Poker Training, and playing a small amount of hands on ACR. I prefer this game to NLHE due to the heavy post-flop action that it offers.
I have a career as an accountant so poker fits well as I am numbers and math oriented and I enjoy solving problems. My job as an accountant is somewhat satisfying but I can honestly say that I have never really felt a passion for it and have spent a lot of time hoping that I could find a way to make money in life doing something that I truly enjoy. I am certain that poker is this passion in life that I have been seeking. I find myself dreaming of having the ability to study and play poker on a daily basis for a living. This is obviously a loft goal especially for one so new to the game, but with excellent resources like the PLO Mastermind I know it is within the realm of possibility.
My initial goal or milestone that I would like to accomplish is to be able to supplement my income through PLO by making $1,000 each month. In addition to this, I would like to climb the stakes to reach PLO100. My reason for reaching PLO100 is that I’ve had a strong interest in being able to go to the casino to play live PLO. I feel that by working my way up the stakes online, by the time I reach PLO100 I will have sufficient skill and bankroll to be able to win big at my local casino in addition to my online play.
I’m incredibly excited to start this journey with the PLO Mastermind and all of it’s members. I can’t wait to be able to share my story along the way as well as discover and gain inspiration through reading all of yours as well!

Hey Drew, welcome to the PLO Mastermind and PLO in general!
You sound very similar to myself (I am a qualified accountant) but I never had a passion for it so just avoided going into that working environment as I knew i’d never enjoy it.
