John Hudson 23 from Manchester, England. Started playing poker casually with friends whilst at university and since have loved playing the game due to the mental challenge which it brings. Previously would just play on the weekends due to working full time in the week and didn’t take the game seriously. Would play NLHE MTT and just see if I could run a bankroll up. However since I have found PLO and am taking the game more seriously in order to improve my knowledge and skill for the game whilst also improving myself and my family’s quality of life.

Vision – Become a Semi Professional Poker player on online PLO cash games

Purpose – To work on poker and my mental game daily in order to improve in self discipline as well as being more logical which will assist in all aspects of my life off the table too. Subsidise my income from

poker in order to be more flexible with my time management and spend more time with my family.

    Milestone –

Increase my bankroll from $400 currently to be able to to play PLO 50 with 75 BB

£500 per month additional income from poker playing

    Crush PLO 50 8BB per 100BB

    Hey John,

Welcome and thanks for creating a blog!

How long have you been playing PLO for?

What stakes are you currently playing?

Best of luck with your goals and lets crush it!

      Hi there,

I’ve been playing poker on and off for about a year and half now however only recently transitioned over to PLO.

Currently I’m playing PLO10, just trying to understand the fundamentals and utilising the 10 week transformation course to assist with that.

My bankroll is currently just over $500

Nice goals John! If you’re putting some time aside for hand review or study sessions and ever want to look over some hands or specific spots / positions etc. Just shoot me a message because it seems like we have similar goals.

Welcome to the PLO Mastermind @johnh

Will be looking into your progress over the next few months.

First recommendation would be to list out which processes will get you to more success in poker over the next weeks or 30 days. For example

    1) I will study the game x amount per week for 30 days

    2) I will play PLO x amount of hours or hands per week for the next 30 days

These are controllable goals and are focusses on your process. Increasing your BR is nice, but hard to control for as we have to deal with variance in poker.

    Best of luck

    Cheers,

    JN

Thank you for your comment @Sammayy that would be definitely helpful.

@JNandez yes completely understand what you mean. Need to create manageable goals and short terms ones such as 30 days to make keep on track and able to assess progress easier.

    1) I will plan to study poker 15 hours per week for the next 30 days

    2) I will plan to play poker for 5 hours per week for the next 30 days
