Gareth’s poker Journey
Hi everyone, my name is Gareth and I’m a poker player returning to the poker world. I started playing around the time of 2009. I used to specialize in nlhe heads up sit n gos and did fairly well. I jumped up a few stakes and suffered a huge downturn. I was 19 and had no idea how to handle the downswing. My bankroll which I had built up to over 10k had been decimated in a matter of days and then a few weeks later Black Friday hit.
I took a pause from poker and circled back a few times but without any real commitment. Luckily, about 4 month ago I discovered PLO and immediately was hooked. Anything I can read, watch or simulate Ive played with in the summer. I’m super interested in studying PLO intensively both from the mental side, that killed me last time, and the probability side of poker. I’m hoping to find a few folks equally interested in pursuing poker seriously. I’m currently floating between PLO 50 and PLO 100.
My goal in the next six to twelve months is to get to PLO 500 and up from there. A long journey ahead with plenty of setbacks, I’m sure, but I couldn’t be more excited by the resurgence in the poker community and my discovery of PLO.
