Hey Guys,
Decided to try one of these fun challenges to test myself, improve, potentially move up in stakes and hopefully make a few $$$ on the side.
I have played at these stakes before and I definitely want to improve my winrate before in addition to moving up in stakes.
I understand that this will not be an “easy” challenge as I work and have a family to raise also.
However, I just want to have fun and do my best.
Here are the ground rules….
(1) I will be starting at PLO25 with ~50BIs
(2) <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Every time the bankroll hits 15 buy-ins for the next stake level, I will be allowed to take a 5 buy-in “shot” at the next stake level.
(3)<strong style=”background-color: rgb(55, 55, 55); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”> <strong style=”background-color: rgb(55, 55, 55); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Shots can be played at the same time as smaller stakes tables.
(4) <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>If the bankroll ever goes below 10 buy-ins at the current stake level, I must move down in stakes.
For study tools, I’m currently watching the following videos.
(1) 10 Week PLO Transformation (finished the course earlier, now I use it for review purposes)
(2) Crushing Small Stakes PLO
(3) GTO Bits – very UNDERRATED videos in my opinion
If anyone has any suggestions on any other tools I should use or videos to watch, please feel free to comment in the blog.
With that being said, LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!

Okay folks…quick update.
Initially I was going to start the challenge at PL25 but decided to change course once I started looking at the rake structure and how the games played. So now, I’m starting the challenge at PL50 with 25 buy-ins!
So far, PL50 plays like a high dollar version of the micros. ALOT of the players either still limp into pots, are very passive and only 3 bet AAxx. Granted I’ve only been playing these stakes about a week or so AND my game selection skills have been top notch as I have been able to avoid the super advanced players while still making a few dollars here and there.
A major issue that I’m having thus far is not studying more than I should. With the games being relatively “soft”, it’s making me not want to do the necessary work off the table. That kind of mindset won’t cut it when its time to move up in stakes. What I’ve noticed in the past is that when I was losing, I wanted to know WHY I was losing. And when I was winning, I just chalked it to the poker Gods deciding to be nice to me for a change.
HOW DO I CHANGE THIS MINDSET?!!
With the games running like they are, taking a few buy-ins and going up to PL100 isn’t too far-fetched than originally planned.
Since I haven’t been doing any hand reviews, I’ve been watching videos on mostly 3-Bet pots.
I know this is poker and you have to take the good with the bad but mannnn I’ve been waiting for this good to happen for a loooooonnnnnng time.
Just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride.
