The king on the hill

Hello there, Im Kalin. Im casual professional poker player from 10+ years. I make my living with NLTH on live games. A few months ago I decided to give Omaha a try and I found love! Two months ago I bought a 1 year subscription to PLOMastermind and even though it was really hard and nerve wracking, I started to love learning my favorite game even more. Now I am determined to get better in Omaha every day and day after day. So, I begin my progress log from now.

If anyone is reading this, I apologize for my English. I’m doing my best! 😀

    my vision is very simple:

I’m the king of the hill!!! I stay all day at the biggest games possible online and try to catch the best regulars to eat. The tables are empty and no one is bothering me, but I’m waiting to hunt.

    my purpose:

I like to study and play omaha because I have a chance to feel the power of my soul by challenging it, I have a chance to unfold my potential, I feel alive, living again is interesting, I wake up with a desire to grow.

    milestones:

    1. Play and study Omaha 6 days a week.

1.1 To study Omaha at least 4 hours a day.
1.2 To play at least 1000 hands daily.
1.3 To beat the current limit (plo50) by at least 6bb/100 for 100k hands.
1.4 To update my pogress log when every daily routine is done(relax day too).
1.5 To exercise every day (and a relaxing day).

1.6 To think about improving these stages on daily basis.

    2. One day a week for complete relaxation.

2.1 Tuesday is a day off.
    2.2 No poker, no strategies.
2.3 To spend time with my friends.
2.4 Spending time and money with womens.
2.5 At least one spa, mineral pool, massage or similar.
2.6 Watch at least one movie.

2.7 To think about how to improve this list.

    That all for now.

    Day 1

    Ok, first update.

    1. workout – check! I was traning my legs and it was hard to get back home! 😀 😀

    2. study – check! I studied for a little over 4 hours. I did a lot of simulations to defend the BB against a BU open raise. Now I felt much better about this situation. Tomorrow I think to practice prefolp 3bet ranges.

    3. play – check! I’ve played about 1100 hands, results are break even and 3 stacks under EV. I played well, but I have to check some spots tomorrow. It feels like I’m crushing these guys.

I still have a hour before I go out so I’m thinking of doing some extra PLO trainer simulations.

    Day 2

    1. Workout- done!

    2. Studying – much more than 4 hours, but I think to learn more after playing some hands.

    3. Game – 1007 hands done. Huge downswing of 14 bi for 1k hands… I think I didn’t play at my best, but the main thing is a bad run. I should review most of the hands tomorrow.

During the training, I manage to update my strategy for everyday life. From now on, I will start making a to-do list (which will be posted here). And I will update the task list every time I complete a task for the current day.

Work is done for today. Time to go out 😀 😀 😀

    Day 3

    To do:

    1. Workout – Training is over! I did chest and then did 30 minutes of cardio with 20 minute intervals. Feels good man! Now it’s time to cock and eat and after I continue to explore my love – PLO.

    2. Study -I lost count of how many hours I studied today, I think it was about 5-6 hours atm. I’ve done some deep preflop sessions and I’m very happy with it, but it’s wearing me out and now I’m thinking of watching a video of Crush Small Stakes PLO before I continue.

2.2. watch 10 weekly transformation videos – done

2.3. preflop 3 bet – First hour review and research 3b spot BU vs CO: conclusion – I’m a donk :D. I have to work to change that!

    3. Play – no until end of the month.

Since I felt unsure in some spots during play sessions yesterday. Now I see that I have a lot of blind spots. I will not play until end of this month, I will invest this time to learn.

I am done for today. I learned a lot and I am tired but happy.

    Day 4

    To-Do list:

    1. Study PLO – 6h minimum.

    2. Workout.

Ok, first update for today. 1 hour of studying preflop situations is done. I worked on one category of all OR situations and a few 3b vs UTG situations. This way of learning seems very slow, but I’ve been taking a lot of notes on this category in this situation and I’ve come to some really good conclusions. I feel like I understand it a lot better now, even if it’s going very slowly. Now I go to the gym and train my biceps.

Training is done. Now I continue with preflop scenarios for about another 2 hours and postflop in the 3b pot for a few more hours.

I have done a lot of work with category $C2.1.1. All ORs spot ready, all positions when the face OR from UTG is ready for call and 3b situation and I have made CU and BU face OR from CO and they call or 3b. Now I see the pattern of this category, but I will continue with it tomorrow(nope tomorrow is a day for relax 😀 ) to complete face OR from SB and BB and face 3b with this category. Tomorrow I have to create generl conclusion for this category. Now short break and after continue with 3b pots postflop.

I am done for today. After preflop mining I study for a few hours postflop 3bet , so I don’t know how many hours I had studed omaha, but it’s a bit more than 6 hours. Tomorrow relaaaax day! yeyyyy!

    bdw I’ve plaed 300 hands… just coudnt handle my self. 😀 😀 😀

    Paaaartyyyyyy!!!

    Day 6

Yesterday (day 5) was my day off and I didn’t update my blog. I don’t know if I won’t update on the off days, I will decide in the future.

    Anyway. To-Do list for today:

    1. Study preflop, finish the groop for 3bets and explore when this group face vs 3bet.

    2. Study postflop. 3b pots oop.

    3. Workout.

    Lets’s start the fun 😁

    FIrst update for today.

Ok, frst hour of studing is over. I’ve finish all main scenarios with group $C2.1.1. Now is time to hit the gym. After I will continue with general conclusion about $C2.1.1.

Fitness – done! My mother have a some healt problem, I have to take care of that… This feels like really bad downswing in life.

    Now continue with strategy improving.

Not the best day of studying but I have some side problem. Anyway, I learned about 5 hours and improved in some places. I played a few hands and recognized a weak spot that I will also work on.

    Keep going tomorrow

    Day 8

Today I woke up and asked ChatGP 4 what is the best range to play from UTG and he said it would be good to get up and start working on my strategy. So that:

    1. Review of HM reports.

    2. Working on 3bet pots postflop.

    3. Training.

    4. Watching the videos from the 10-week transformation series (by the way, these are extremely valuable materials!).

Today’s update. Training is over. I’ve been watching videos, working with HM reports, and working in depth on preflop ranges. I didn’t get a chance to work the 3b pot after the flop because I had to go with my mom to the hospital. Anyway, I’m off to play some live games.
