I really like your posts and your attitude! It is very inspiring for me that has been some years that I play professionally and I have no doubt you will ladder up very quickly.

if I can give you an advice, don’t over complicate things, like trying to nail EP range perfectly, which will never apply as solver says as people play completely different even at high stakes so you will have meaningless ranges to follow, instead focus on simple things that give you immediate results like how to respond vs players that make massive mistakes pre & post flop, which is usually to play your good hands and fold when they show too much aggression, unless they are complete maniacs and in the meantime, you study how the game should look like through mastermind videos or monkersolver or whatever you use but don’t try to mix the 2 things as you will get very confused, especially at micro stakes.

I probably would do the same to escape the huge rake of low stakes as fast as possible. Though, looking back I would definitely not take some shots when I was not feeling it 100% just because I saw a good table. I always ended up regretting it!

I would probably advise you to do the same especially if you have enough money saved up but obviously only if you feel enough confident to have at least a slight edge in the game, also because it’s nice for the confidence to gain some real money

I would say yes and no. I definitely develop some skills/habits that will help me for life and I could probably use for any other thing I may pursue after poker but also I probably my life is probably too centered around poker in order to succeed and keep growing, which makes me sacrifice a lot of other things which is totally fine for me but I don’t think it’s a very healthy thing to do for many people.

Thanks 🙂 You mean if I would do something different in hindsight about my bankroll management or if I were you?

100% true! but I would aim to be perfect and tiltless as it is probably impossible and make you feel bad about yourself if you don’t achieve it. Just try to be slightly stronger mentally everyday by doing a little thing better and you will be already better than most of the players out there

I mostly play a live 5/10 local game and higher if there is any big event. My progression was quite fast because I have been very aggressive with my bankroll management with some positive variance on my side which is something that I definitely don’t recommend to most people (it can be extremely stressful at some low points) 🙂

Yeah it frustrates me a lot having bad days or being down in the session, even after many years playing every day and I don’t see it changing in the future but more importantly I don’t care too much.

It’s really important, though, to understand how it affects your game, in fact if you start spewing off your stacks and making non sense river hero call then you should consider stopping the session, maybe meditate or go through a study session or simply quit and start fresh the next day.

I believe that there is no secrete recipe for not tilting, instead it is a combination of thing that makes you perform at the highest level which start way before playing itself. It has to do with being satisfied with you life through an healthy lifestyle, good relationships with others and yourself, studying a lot and being mindful to enjoy the process without being too harsh with yourself for the mistake you make (which are inevitable) and not expecting immediate results

I don’t play micro, so I don’t really know the tendency in play, but I play some games against players that have probably comparable skill level.

The main leaks are that they VPIP too much in a passive way (they just want to see flops), which you can counter by tightening up as you will play a lot multiway and you need hands that can play well in that situation, mostly looking for nutted equity. It is especially true if you play in high rake environment where you want to play even tighter.

Also, players love to chase equity, so they will call with any draw no matter how bad it plays on later streets, so you want to build the pot with hands that play well on future runouts (like starting to build the pot with nutted draw)

Then, you find any sort of player out there, so it’s your job to figure out who is who and play accordingly to maximize your value in the game.

Obviously, it’s just my opinion as I don’t play those games but I think you are better off understanding how the meta plays and exploit them, instead of pursuing GTO and getting frustrated then seeing playing a complete different games as they play their cards not their range.
