So I’m having this argument with my partner about Raising over limper in HU vs recreationals. I’m a 6max player but sometimes end up playing Heads Up vs really bad players so I have this doubt.

I think my ROL range for value should be less than the top 45%. Maybe even a 35% or so would be fine. But what do you think?

We have 0 experience playing HU and I’m sure you can offer us better insight.

How bad has to be a player in order to Raise over his limp with a hand like Js7s4d2d if he never limp/folds preflop? Do you see any scenario where it can be EV+?

What’s the weakest combo you Raise over limper sometimes? And for what reason?

I think the rake structure can play into this quite a bit. If you’re playing at lower stakes, making a pot bigger with “uncapped” rake and marginal hands can be quite bad imo. So I would cap my iso raising range at 35-40% max.

If you’re playing with less rake and your opponent is a postflop folding machine, I can see scenarios where raising more often could be better.
