    Result sting, but whatever – 3 handed, one of the players is VPIP 61 (larger stack) and the other’s VPIP is 90.

    I have 52.7% equity on the flop here, 3-handed, and while I didn’t expect set of 888 plus straight draw, I did think one had worse set and the other NFD.

    So, basically we’re hoping for these kinds of situations all day every day, and with enough volume they will pay off..? Or am I thinking wrong here?

    I am sorry if it sounds harsh, but if you are really considering folding top set on a board, where there is no straight or flush possible, you should spend more time studying and less time playing… by the way if you get it in with 50% on the flop 3 way, that is like 1700bb per 100 win rate, so I would say yeah, this is what we aim for 🙂

      So, what was the river ? Who won ?

      I suppose top set is fragile and you have to play it like you did…. I wouldn’t have 3 bet here, though I know I have to play my SB this way most of the time.

      @jnandez , how do you explain I don’t apply stuff I learn from sometimes…. ??? I know stuff and I apply some flaws because it is more confortable…… (F… me 🙂 )

    I was never considering folding and the question was quite literally as stated – to see if there’s ever a situation where anything but as played is the way to go, in every instance. When I have such a high degree of confidence in something in poker I always want to check in with more experienced minds, even if my certainty is close to 100%, as was here.

      I was confused at first too, because of the title of the thread made it seem like you were considering folding. Anyhoo, wp unlucky!

    I would certainly 3-bet preflop here. Other than that I think you’ve played the hand fine. Leading is not very attractive with all these difficult turn cards to handle.
