    Well hello there,

My name is David, I am 28 years old and I am a poker player. I tried to become something else over the last couple years yet I keep drifting back to poker. I live to make people uncomfortable. I lie in bed thinking about applying max pressure to my opponents at all times. I started out playing poker at my local casino 1/2 nl about 9 years ago. Shortly after I started I realized that MTTs were my bread and butter. I quickly ran up a roll online. I live in the US so I was forced to play on ACR and bovada. About 3-4 years into my nlhe mtt journey I had enough to fire in the wsop, I played an entire month and made decent money. I played my first Main event 10k buyin and min cashed it. I was excited but naïve. I thought I was good enough to rely on it as my sole income but I felt the restrictions I faced online in the US was really hurting my bottomline so I moved to Europe.

I was quickly humbled, I realized the skill gap in the average US player vs global player was very significant.. the rest of the world didn’t skip a beat when it comes to the overall learning progression. After black friday the US’s growth was stunted. Nevermind that, I am naturally gifted I didnt need to work hard, I’m just better. WRONG. I was playing too high stakes with too much exposure. I was living in a 2 bedroom penthouse apartment in Amsterdam by myself. What a disaster. Spending way too much money just to live. At first it was great I was winning (albeit variance’s good side) but then the ugly truth showed its gross overweight acne filled sloppy face. I lost all balance I stopped working out, I ate nothing but takeout, I grinded a nocturnal schedule (didn’t see the sun for weeks at a time), and lost everything.

My mental was deteriorating, I seeked help in a form of a staking group. This was THE best thing to ever happen to me. This CFP group was a godsend. I grinded for them as they taught me the way. I dropped all form of gto study, as this was not how you beat low to mid online MTTs, much to my surprise. I digress and perhaps will answer some questions on that if prompted. However as I was progressing through their program and implementing their strategies. I eventually went through another nasty downswing at which point I could not recover from mentally. After much deliberation, and some convincing from my loved ones to come home for my own health and sanity. I left the group and Europe and the game all together.

Fast forward 2 years later and we are here now I have recovered fully from my mental break and have a much better balance. I have been working as a waiter at a very nice restaurant here in California. I play poker at a local casino from time to time because I do enjoy it and these games are unbelievably easy, I have no concerns over money as I know I will always be able to churn out a winrate at 1/3 or 2/5nl. HOWEVER, I have always been a fan of PLO, and that is why I have decided to subscribe to the Mastermind. I have put in minimal hands online (<10k) all at random stakes from 200plo and lower. I have no idea how to study the game and I figure this would be a great way to gain insight on that. Jnandez seems to be an absolute crusher and he can articulate his thoughts very well.

    The big picture:

I want to become a high stakes PLO reg who is feared and respected by all.

When I put my mind to something I have no doubt I will be able to achieve this goal but I must remember to balance my life. I am in a much better place than I was a couple years ago and I know how slippery the slope is. Self discipline is my only adversary.

    Milestones:

Have a winrate of 10bb/100 at PLO25 over 100k hands

Quit my job and play PLO full time

    Travel the world

    Get married!

    Play JNandez HU4rollz (jk lmao)

Shot take in a local 25/50/100 plo game at casino.

    Daily Checklist:

    Gym 6 days a week

    Study 2 hr/day

    Play 2 hr/day (atleast)

    WELCOME to my blog!

Hey David, welcome! It seems like you’ve been through a bunch of experiences but have been able to gain some knowledge and wisdom from it. You should be proud of yourself.

And you’re right, discipline is key. It’s not great to know you should do something and then not do it, we all fail sometimes, just have to keep getting back on the horse and practicing discipline.

Looking forward to seeing what you achieve after putting in the study, work and play!
