My name is Rob Bayard, I’m 26 years old living in the US. I’ve been playing poker since I was 18 as a recreational player. I’ve always had plans to one day play full time as a pro. (See previous thread for more in depth story). In the past I haven’t seen much success in poker, it wasn’t until recently that I started being honest with my current skill set and results. (I was ready to throw in the towel). I just felt like it was unbeatable, but like anything in life success is not easy.
That being said, I decided to give it one more shot. My vision/purpose are still similar:
Vision: I am a mid/high stakes PLO crusher who gets to travel and experience new things through poker. Not only do I want to be successful in playing poker, I want to be involved with the poker community whether it be working for a company, having a podcast, twitch, etc.
Purpose: Plain and simple poker is my passion. There are very few things that I truly enjoy. Watching myself progress as a player and an individual, brings me joy.
Milestones:
Long Term:
1.) To win a WSOP bracelet in a PLO event
2.) To win at 8bb+/100 at 1000plo and up online
3.) To play some of the highest live PLO games
4.) Leave my career and travel the world5.) To be in the best shape of my life
Short Term:
1.) To be brutally honest with myself in every part of my life
2.) To post an update everyday on here to hold myself accountable
3.) To practice proper BRM management every time I play
4.) Treat every day like this is the last day I’ll be able to play poker5.) Make friends in the poker community

My current focus is on studying, there will be plenty of time to play.
I’m currently going through each position on HM2 and finding leaks in my game. Once I find a leak then I will do a deep study on that topic.
Yesterday I focused on 3 Bet pots OOP mainly when I’m in EP. I noticed I was losing massive BB/100 in that spot. I broke down some of my hands from HM2, ran them in the preflop helper, reviewed my range with the excel sheet, and also quizzed myself in the PLO trainer. Some of my key notes from studying last night(only focusing on preflop):
1.) Opening the correct range will lead to more clear decisions when facing a 3B OOP
2.) My 4Bet range only consisted of Aces
3.) I was calling too many hands facing a 3 Bet. I need to focus more on nuttiness and connectivity.
4.) Our range needs to be even tighter when multiple people cold call the 3 Bet (common at low stakes)
Tonight we are going to review my MP RFI range using the same tools I used from last night. Once I fully understand my MP RFI range we will look into facing a 3B IP and OOP in MP.
I’m taking this step by step, slowly improving every aspect of my game.

Okay just completed a 1.5 hour study session focusing on middle position RFI. Here are a few things I noticed:
I’m opening too few of hands
The hands I am opening are not incorrect, its the hands I am folding.
To study this I went into the PLO Trainer and ran training. I lowered the EV to focus more on the bottom of my RFI range. Any hands I was unsure about I cross checked in excel to see the what percentage I was opening for that category etc.
Next study session I will do a quick review of ep/mp rfi then looking into 3B situations in MP.
On a side note, sometimes when I goal set for a day/week/month I tend to set too many goals, and some that are unachievable. That being said for June I’m going to keep it simple. I have one goal for poker:
1.) Study for 60-80 hours total (will keep track on this log). I’m not setting a volume goal, the only playing I intend on doing will be play/study. We will start this as of today so currently at 1.5/60
As I feel more confident in my game we will start setting volume goals etc.

trust me you’re probably opening right amount if you’re opening too tight. you can never go wrong with tight preflop opens at lower stakes but a lot of things can go bad once you start opening light stuff

Long day at work.
I spent roughly an hour going through some quizzes on the mastermind. Mainly focused on EP and MP both rfi and 3B/4B. I noticed OOP seemed easier for me than IP, something to note for future studies. Anyways glad I got some sort of study in. Planning on a big study session tomorrow, I’ll have a lot of free time. 2.5/60 Hours

Stats recently from a small sample size. Opening %s are way off which is why I have been focusing on them.
VPIP: 21.1
PFR: 16.3
3 Bet: 8,49
EV BB/100: -6.44
EP PFR: 18.5
MP PFR: 16
CO: 17.5
BTN: 22.3
SB: 15.1Studied for 2 hours tonight. I continued to focus on MP 3bet pot IP and OOP. Finally starting to get a grasp of my range in both spots. I’m not trying to memorize what hands to play, more so the categories and concepts. I used the PLO trainer to quiz myself and hands I did not know I cross checked with other rescourses.
Tomorrow I am going to start CO RFI and review what I have been studying in the last week. Cheers everyone! 4.5/60
