Road from Micro to Small Stakes
Hi all,
Happy to join the PLOMastermind, to share a little background with you. I come from Slovenia curerntly living in London, I’ve started my poker career back in 2006 when I was studying electrical engineering.
Started of playing Limit Holdem build my first bankroll bought coaching at stoxpoker, when limit poker died I switched to NL. From 2010 I was playing as a semi-pro stakes up to NL50 at that point I as well won a free ticket on pokerstars for their show so was playing freeroll on TV game me huge confidence so life was good for several years :). At some point in 2014 I went bust due to bad BR managment lack of studing and several other factors and decided to take a bit of a break from poker and finish my studies as the end date at Uni was set for end of 2016.
So I finished my studies and than started playing again. As there was not much else to do and no jobs were on horizon. I came across a lot of GTO talk at the time so I started studing again build my roll from NL2 to comfortably play at NL25. But really didnt know what to do with my life, a friend of mine invited me to come to live in London maybe get some job experience and so I went. I continued to play poker and as well went to Casinos couple of times and made a killing so I got a lot of gusto for it. I did a lot of thinking and I decided to never the less get couple years of experience and it was very easy for me to get a job. So after I moved to London in 2017 I got my job by the end of new year so I started to work in 2018. It was quite demanding for first year, second year it got better and I started to think about getting back into poker as I dont really like 9-5. So again in 2020 I’ve built my BR from scratch, studied a lot of NL and was playing up to NL50 stakes again. But than my friend died due to some horrible cancer so he was gone in 8days from diagnosis. It was so unreal that I could not beleive it naturally I supported his family and so on when they came to see him for the last couple days of his life and to collect his ashes afterwards, but the toll on me was huge emotionally as he was my friend sicne child hood from my home town and we lived for more than 2 years in same house in London. Needless to say Covid came I worked from home well, I did not work much only enough to not loose job, because I was dead drunk every day from the morning for half a year.
At some point I got through the heavy loss, sobered up and continued with my life journey. So I resumed poker I joined redchip coaching site and saw how far in reality sovlers came as I was out of loop for couple years. So down the road building my roll I came a cross many interesting games on GGpoker, one of them being PLO and PLO5. So after some reading about and coming across JNandez I decided to give PLO a shot and joing this coaching site. I got kind of tired of London so I am moving to Portugal next year. I can get remote jobs easy so always something to fall back on if needed be. But I will make a great effor to become again a semi-pro and eventually a pro. I simply love the game too much and I love the constat development and learning process.
Therefor as suggested I will keep updating this Blog and I will post my results every twice a month to keep track and see how things are going.
Happy grinding everyone and good luck!
