My name is Ashly, and I am 39 years old. I have spent most of my adult life working remotely and living in or traveling to different countries. I lived very frugally and always worked part-time. Through my travels, I have learned a lot about myself, my values, and my deepest passions. Several years ago, I returned home to the U.S. and started laying the groundwork for a financially stable and fulfilling life in a much more expensive part of the world than where I had been living and traveling. To help meet my financial needs, I bought a multi-family home and have been fixing it up so that the rental income can cover my housing expenses. I am also moving away from my previous job to pursue my passion for writing. Amidst all of those transitions, I stumbled upon a love for poker.

I started playing NLHE online casually and was immediately intrigued by the game. Then, I happened upon PLO a few months ago and knew I had found another passion. I have only ever played online micro-stakes, and I have not yet had a regular amount of time to dedicate to poker. However, I can definitely see how PLO/poker can add so much to my life while also tapping into skills that I have already honed and developed.

I’m very excited to embark upon this new journey and to face the challenges it brings!

I am a successful part-time poker player. I play/study mid-stakes online PLO for 10 to 15 hours per week. My poker winnings cover my costs of living (other than housing) and enable me to focus on my writing without financial strain. Playing/studying poker balances well with writing — providing a different type of challenge and offering a sort of reprieve.

I play poker because it is a fun and challenging way to financially support myself without having to rely on monetizing my writing. Poker allows me to continue to work remotely and to maintain a lifestyle that focuses on health, balance, and fulfillment.
