    Hey guys!

I’ve been playing poker seriously for last 12 years (last 5 semi-seriously). I have always been what they nowadays refer to as “feel player”. I studied the game, but back then there wasn’t programs that gave you correct answers; it was mostly watching videos of top players in action on coaching sites and discussing hands with friends.

Of my first 7 years when I played full time, I was really fortunate to be at the right place at the right time and managed to win a bit over half a milly. At some point I took an extended break, things were getting gradually worse in online poker (sites focusing on high-rake low-edge games like Spins, removal of rakeback and bonuses on most sites etc) and at the same time I started doing really well in some high risk investments so I basically quit playing for a living. Since then I’ve dabbled a bit in Spins, in Chinese apps playing NL fullring and live poker playing whatever runs, but haven’t taken any of them really seriously more than a couple of months at a time.

Fast forward to end of 2020 when I got wrecked in high-stakes 5-card PLO live game and decided to see what Internet wizards had to say about PLO strategy. I did some research and quickly came to conclusion that this site is probably best for PLO strategy. Initially my goal was to study for live 5-card PLO game, but I accidentally stumbled onto JNandez ‘s “10-Week PLO Transformation” course and I was shocked! I had no idea PLO hands could even be charted and categorized preflop, and then the Preflop Helper and PLO Trainer, amazing. Due to these newfound resources I decided to put my live 5-card aspirations in the background and focus on playing 4-card online for the time being.

Currently i’m playing PLO200 at GG. At this time I have no idea if i’m winning player at these stakes, but thanks to investments I don’t have to grind my way up from micros and I don’t mind paying some “school money” as long as i’m losing less than 10bb/100 in EV.

My goal for the foreseeable future is to start beating PLO200 for 5bb/100 at least. If GG doesn’t cap my rakeback I could potentially be happy with being breakeven player at PLO500 aswell, but I doubt they will be so generous for long 😀

Sorry in advance for shamelessly tagging you 😀

I could use some help with regards to studying…

I’m 3/4 done with “10 Week PLO Transformation” course, where to next? I have an issue though, I really-really hate passive studying i.e. watching videos (or passive anything really, I have no idea how a site like Twitch exists). I can do it if necessary, but it takes me a really long time since i’m super perfectionist about it, taking alot of notes, rewinding alot to understand and process every single word etc. Working through a 30 minute coaching video is basically a full day’s worth of productivity for me.

With that being said, what would you recommend for me to do for improving after finishing 10 Week program? If the videos are by far the best option I can do it, but I would really prefer more “active” approach when it comes to improving.

    I think my options are:
    1) Getting a coach who can advise me about which steps to take. Do you guys do either profit share or by hourly coaching?
    2) PLO Trainer. I briefly played around a bit with the old beta version, haven’t tried new one
    3) MonkerSolver. I’ve read that it’s no longer supported, does it matter? And in the era of PLO Trainer, is there even a point to still get it?

Hope you guys can point me in the right direction 🙂

Good luck on your journey. And yeah just grinding PLO Trainer will be very effective. Although I would also try to watch some play and explain videos for “now” otherwise it will take a long time before you get an overall good feel for the game.

Easy: Get PLO Trainer and start studying the sims. This is by far the most effective method if you want to actively study.
